Temple Israel members are invited to bring their family and friends to services this year. For the safety and security of our community, ALL in-person attendees must be registered.

  • All services taking place in the Sanctuary will be livestreamed to provide the opportunity to participate remotely. Technological improvements have greatly enhanced the virtual experience.  Livestream link will be sent out with your High Holy Day passes and parking pass via email the week of September 23.
  • If you have not yet completed your Membership Commitment for 2024-25visit this page on the website.
  • If you have guests/relatives that are non-members, you can have them register here.
  • To participate in the Book of Life (even if you have done so in the past), please enter your information on this page or email Robin Safarowic, Director of Finance & Membership.  Any names not confirmed for 2024 will be removed.

This S'lichot program marks the beginning of Temple Israel's High Holy Day programming for 5785. Light Supper followed by Havdalah and a brief S'lichot service.

Rosh Hashanah Evening Service
8:00 PM

Join the Temple Israel Community for a sermon from one of our rabbis and to hear beautiful music from Rabbi/Cantor Sklar, Choir Director Eddie Pleasant, Composer-in-Residence Dina Pruzhansky, and our adult choir, Hallel B'Shir. This service is most appropriate for adults, but all ages are welcome to attend.

Rosh Hashanah Morning Service

Join the Temple Israel Community for a sermon, a Torah reading by Gordon Cutler and beautiful music from Rabbi/Cantor Sklar, Choir Director Eddie Pleasant, Composer-in-Residence Dina Pruzhansky, and our adult choir, Hallel B'Shir.  This service is most appropriate for adults, but all ages are welcome to attend

For those registered for this service, babysitting will be available.  Sign up on the registration form.

Rosh Hashanah Multi-Generational Service
1:00 PM

Join us as our clergy will share an engaging and insightful story that touches upon themes related to the High Holy Days. This year, the service will include music from our Temple Band, Sh'ma Na Na and our choir, Hallel B'Shir.  Jim Kramer will read from the Torah.  You will also enjoy upbeat and participatory music led by Rabbi/Cantor Sklar. This service is appropriate for everyone.  A children’s machzor, prayer book, will be used.

Tot Program at Senasqua Park
3:00 - 3:30 PM

Families with young children are invited to join our clergy at Senasqua Park for a spirited and musical exploration of High Holy Day traditions and customs. Bring your shofar and help in sounding the shofar blast! 

Community Tashlich at Senasqua Park

3:30 PM
Congregant Laura Copel invites our Temple Community to partake in the ritual of Tashlich at Senasqua Park. We will symbolically cast our sins into the beautiful Hudson River using environmentally-friendly items, dead leaves and bird seed, as we sing joyful songs and celebrate together; Bring a chair and/or a blanket.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11

Kol Nidre Multi-Generational Service
6:00 PM

This service is appropriate for everyone.  Our choir, Hallel B’shir, will be participating.  This is an early opportunity to hear the important Kol Nidre prayer and is perfect for anyone hoping to attend services but still make it home before bedtime! The Kol Nidre prayer itself will be enhanced by the beautiful sounds of the cello.  We will tell a story relating to themes of Yom Kippur. Rabbi/Cantor Sklar will lead participatory music.

Rabbi/Cantor Sklar, Choir Director Eddie Pleasant, Composer-in-Residence Dina Pruzhansky, and our choir, Hallel B'Shir will provide the music and a sermon will be given by one of our rabbis. The Kol Nidre prayer itself will be enhanced by the beautiful sounds of the cello.  Most appropriate for adults and children over the age of 12 but all ages are welcome to attend.

Yom Kippur Morning Service
10:00 AM

The Torah reading will be done by Holly Zabitz and Julie Martinez.  A sermon will be delivered by one of our rabbis and Rabbi/Cantor Sklar, Choir Director Eddie Pleasant, Composer-in-Residence Dina Pruzhansky, and our choir, Hallel B'Shir will provide the music.

Temple Tot Yom Kippur Experience for Tots and the Parents/Adults who love them

This service is for families/caretakers with young children (geared for children 5 and younger) and will be led by Rabbi Pein and Rabbi/Cantor Dan Sklar.

“Ayecha – Where are You?” A Discussion led by Ed Ginsberg and Len Simon

And where are we? Ayecha is a call from the Torah to every individual to evaluate where they stand at any given time, to make the right choice, to choose the correct and moral path, whatever the hardship involved.

Yom Kippur this year falls only a few days after the one year anniversary of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack from Gaza, the worst catastrophe in Israel's history. But October 7th and its aftermath also effects every Jew no matter where he or she might live. So, one year later, what does it mean to be a Jew in the world at this moment and how has that changed in this year – in our institutions and in ourselves. Temple Board Members Ed Ginsberg and Len Simon will lead an interactive discussion dedicated to answering the question “Ayecha”.

Led by Rabbi Jaech, we remember our loved ones in this beautiful service that features music by Rabbi/Cantor Dan Sklar and by our choir, Hallel B’Shir.

Yizkor will be followed by N'eilah, the concluding service for Yom Kippur.  At the end of the service and for Havdalah, children will be invited to sound their shofars.
