Adult B'nai Mitzvah Program

One of the most inspiring and moving journeys invariably occurs when you participate in the adult B'nai Mitzvah class.  Adults with various backgrounds and life experiences participate in the Adult B'nai class for two reasons: to learn to read the Hebrew text of our liturgy and to study in depth the signifcance of this milestone.

Lead our Rabbi and Cantor, this class meets weekly on scheduled Tuesday evenings, 7:30-9:30 PM. In the first hour, the class learns to read Hebrew. If you are a novice and have no familiarity with Hebrew at all, this is the class for you! Join us and become empowered to fully participate in the service. You cannot imagine how much more comfortable you will feel, having commanded this essential skill. In the second hour, you will study the background, historical context, and spiritual elements of the B’Nai Mitzvah experience.  For those re-exploring or exploring for the first time, their Jewish roots and place in Jewish life, this is a wonderful enhancement to your search. Advanced Hebrew readers may join the class in the second hour, or joint the first hour class when the group has advanced to your level.  Participants who have elected to become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah conclude the course by leading a special Shabbat Service.  This service, which occurs in June, is always a most moving and memorable occasion.

For those considering embracing Judaism, or for those considering the re-embracing of their Judaism, the Adult B’nai Mitzvah Class is a wonderful way to begin your journey.
