Scholarships for Travel to Israel
for our Religious School Students and Youth Group Members
The David A. Gimprich Fund for Israel Scholarship was established at Temple Israel of Northern Westchester several years ago through the generosity of the Gimprich family, congregants in our temple family. Many of our youth have benefited over the years from scholarship funds to visit Israel.
Funds are available to students in the Religious School or members of the Temple Israel Youth Groups to "study, at camp or at school, or travel, alone or as part of a group, in the State of Israel." Recipients are chosen by a selection committee.
If you would like to be considered for a scholarship or have a family member interested in traveling to Israel who meets the criteria above, please send an email to the Temple Office at [email protected] with "Application for Gimprich Scholarship" in the subject line. Please include the name of the student or youth group member, along with details about current travel plans or plans under consideration.
We are most fortunate to be able to offer this opportunity to our membership.
There are many organized travel programs from which to choose.
Students may use the NFTY in Israel gift certificate they received when they became Bar or Bat Mitzvah at Temple Israel to offset the cost of a NFTY trip. The combination of a scholarship and the NFTY gift certificate provides a substantial savings on the cost of a trip to Israel. The NFTY programs include Adventure (4 weeks in Israel), L'Dor V'Dor (1 week in Europe and 4 weeks in Israel) and the Eisendrath International Exchange High School in Israel (accredited 6.5 week travel and education program). Visit http://www.nftyisrael.org for more information about their Israel travel programs.
For 18-26 year olds, NFTY also offers Taglit-Birthright Israel, a free 8 to 10 day winter or spring trip. For more information visit www.kesherbirthright.org.
