Ben Ellerin earned a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and a minor in Jewish Studies from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. Inspired by his transformative experience singing in and conducting choirs, Ben continued his studies by earning a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting. In addition to serving as the cantorial soloist for the Indiana University Hillel and Temple Adath B’nai Israel of Evansville, Indiana, Ben sought to create a new platform for meaningful Jewish music on campus. He founded and served as music director of Hooshir, Indiana University's premier Jewish a cappella group. While music director, Ben prepared and led the group in a performance tour of Washington, D.C., culminating in a concert at the White House Hanukkah party.
While studying at Hebrew Union College, Ben served as Cantorial Intern and Director of Choirs at Park Avenue Synagogue in Manhattan, Cantorial Intern at Congregation Rodeph Sholom in Manhattan, and student cantor with congregations Darchei Noam and Tzur Hadassah in Israel. In addition to his work as a cantor and conductor, Ben devotes his time to composing, recording, and promoting new Jewish music.
